Teatime! Also: Have Fun, Will Travel.

Backlogged much and I thought I'd just skip some things but then I thought I'd still like to have a record of what (little) I've done with the doll hobby this spring. If not for others, just for myself, when I read the old posts some day in the undefined future!

Actually, even though I haven't done all that much with my dolls lately, surprisingly I've been to a lot of dollmeets this spring! I'll try to post about the meets in chronological order so it might take some time to cover them all.

A few weeks back I went to Jyväskylä, a city in Central Finland. The trip was made on a very short notice and the original reason for me to go there was so that me and my dear friend Petunia could make reservations for fligths and hotels for our trip to ---!--- London next October! Apparently there was a dollmeet to be held on that same weekend there and Petunia invited me to come over.

Ajanpuutteen vuoksi suomenkieliset käännökset tulevat myöhemmin. Olen lähdössä matkalle Saksaan tänään illalla ja pakkaaminen on vielä tekemättä! :'D Kaikki jää viime tippaan kuten tavallista.
Käväisin jokunen aika sitten Jyväskylässä, jotta voisimme Petunian kanssa ostaa matkaliput ja varata hotellit lokakuun Lontoon matkaa varten. (ollaan taas lähdössä reissuun yhdessä, jeeee! En malta odottaa! x3 ) Paikkakunnalla sattui olemaan myös nukkemiitti käynnissä, johon Petunia minut ystävällisesti kutsui. Tässä hieman Jykylä-tunnelmia!

Tämän postauksen jälkeen seuraavaksi vuorossa Helsinki- ja Turku-miittien tunnelmia, mutta tässä välissä saatan postata myös jotain matkafiiliksiä mikäli saan WiFin käyttöön ja toimimaan! Jee jee.

Sillä välin pitäkää hauskaa vaikka Google Translatorin kanssa! :D

Looks Weird, Tastes Nice...

Spica, reporting again with a compilation of weird stuff... but that's like my life in one sentence. ;) Went to see a movie with my friend but ended up doing miscellanious other things instead... I find this slushmachine pretty interesting, visually that is. It also has something steampunky in it, doesn't it? ^3^ (What, can I hear a faint chorus of voices shouting "n....not at aaaalllllll" somewhere in the distance, Lol!

Spica reporttaa taas kasasta outoja juttuja. Mentiin katsomaan leffaa kaverin kanssa, mitä ei sitten tehtykään ja sitten keskityin Oheistoimintaan.
Minusta tämä jäähilejuoma-masiina on visuaalisesti varsin mielenkiintoinen. Siinä on jotain steampunk-maista, huh? (Mitäs, saatanko kuulla pienten äänten huutavan jostain kaukaisuudesta; "no.....ei sitten yyyyyhtääääääään...!" Hahahahhah. *nyt kuuluu nauraa*

Siis-... MITÄ tää on??? No tota yllä olevaahan se. Näyttää erittäin syötävältä.

Jaaaaa- meillä on aiheesta myös havainnollistavaa opetusmateriaalia, esim. video, jepujepujeee! Täältä taustalta kuuluu siskoni ja kaverini rattoisaa rupattelua siitä, mitä mennään katsomaan. Itse olen ihan tuon koneen ja mössön lumoissa. Videon loppua kohden siskoni hermostuu minuun, hahaha!

Aaaaand- we also have educational videomaterial, like, a video, wooot woot!
In the background you can hear my sister and my friend trying to decide what movie we are going to see (War of the Dead, Iron Sky or some other flick.) while I'm much too enthralled about the slushmachine and the gooey stuff inside it to pay attention. Towards the end of the video my sister gets mad at me... Hahaha...

Although it looks totally delicious, we didn't go for Mr. Funslush after all... but oddsmoothies! As I named them. You can get your name written on the mugs~ <3 I cencored my sister's name using my never-unsurprising skillz of creativity~ (It reads "soppamörkö"... which is something like "soupymonster" in english... don't know why I did that but it seemed hilarious at the time...)

 It looks nice enough when viewed from the side... but this view tells a different story! (yeah it tasted nice, just thought it would be funny to show the "yucky" side too)

Näyttää sivulta ihan OKltä tuo juoma, mutta ajattelin että voisi olla hauskaa näyttää myös ällöpuoli. Koska Spica löytää kaikesta ällön puolen.

I love steaks and I love french fries~ And I love kiddy-oriented anime. This Sandybell-box set was only 6 euros~ Woot! How could I resist?

Rakastan pihvejä ja ranskalaisia~ sekä lapsille suunnattuja animeita (läppämielessä ja muutenkin). Sandybell- boksisetti oli vain 6 euroa~ Yaaay! Kuinka olisin voinut vastustaa?

 Oudoista syömingeistä puheenollen, tällainen karkkikauppa on leffateatterin lähellä. Kutsun sitä Hullun Pellen Karkkikaupaksi kert' toi dopin näköinen pelle tossa. XD
Ostaisitko tältä mieheltä karkkia?
Pellet on friikin näköisiä, mutta että näin friikkejä? Nauran tuota kuvaa aina kun kuljen ohi ja nyt se piti tallentaa oikein jälkipolville. Hyviä karkkeja tuolla on kuvasta huolimatta, suosittelen. ;)

Even Stranger Things Have Happened - A Visit To Tampere Part 2

We started our Sunday at Tampere with a visit to a small idyllic café called Taikapapu – or Magic Bean. My goal is to visit places with an interesting name and Magic Bean sounded really interesting to me! I can recommend the place warmly. I ordered a small Latte and an apple pie that I asked for the nice caf’é-keeper-lady to warm up for me.
Sunnuntai Tampereella polkaistiin käyntiin käymällä pienessä idyllisessä kahvilassa nimeltä Taikapapu. Se on aivan Stockmannin vieressä, ja suosittelen käymään! Tavoitteenani on käydä paikoissa, joilla on mielenkiintoinen ja/tai hauska nimi ja Taikapapu jos mikä saa kiinnostukseni heräämään! Hahaa!

Tilasin pienen Latten (joka ei todellakaan ollut pieni vaan juuri sopiva!) ja omenapiirakan, jonka käskin kahvilanpitäjän lämmittämään minua varten, jonka hän ystävällisesti suostui tekemään (joskin vähän hämmentyneenä, ilmeisesti kukaan muu ei ole pyytänyt moista aiemmin, heh.) ^__^




Rainbow Dash thinks even Applejack would approve of this pie~ The pie was soft and the apples weren’t too sweet – just right amount of sugar and the sourness of the apples came nicely through. It is unusual to find good pies in Finnish cafés – they are usually either too sweet or not sweet enough.

Rainbow Dashin mielestä myös Applejack hyväksyisy tämän omenapiiraan~ Piiras oli pehmeää ja omput eivät olleet liian makeita - juuri sopivasti sokeria ja omenien happamuus tuli hyvin esiin. Suomessa on tosi vaikea löytää hyvänmakuisia piiraita kahviloista - joko ne ovat liian makeita tai sitten ei tarpeeksi makeita...

Taikapapu oli myönteinen yllätys!



Small and not-so-showy inside – Magic Bean café still has a nice and cozy atmosphere. They also sell quality coffee beans by the weight so you can enjoy fresh coffee at home too~

Kahvila Taikapapu on pieni ja ehkä hieman vaatimaton sisustukseltaan, mutta siellä on mukava ja kodikas tunnelma. Siellä myydään myös laadukkaita kahvipapuja painon mukaan, joten voit nauttia tuoreesta kahvista myös kotona~



I bought some Créme de Paris coffee beans (follow the arrow in the picture~). I love french roast coffee, it is full in flavour but not too strong. (Wow, I made that sound almost like I knew something about coffee Like me, if you don’t have an espresso machine at home, they will kindly grind the beans for you at the café.
By the way, I would love to dye my hair the same color as those coffee beans. It’s a really lovely shade of dark brown.

Ostin hieman Créme de Paris -kahvipapuja (seuraa nuolta kuvassa purkin luokse!). Rakastan ranskalaispaahtoista kahvia, se on täyteläistä, mutta ei liian voimakkaan makuista, kannattaa kokeilla! (kuulostaapa siltä kuin oikeasti tietäisin jotain kahvista ^^;;; ) Jos sinulla ei ole espressokonetta kotona (kuten minulla...), kahvilassa grindataan pavut sinulle valmiiksi.

Muuten, haluaisin värjätä hiukseni noiden kahvipapujen värisiksi, ihanan herkullinen tummanruskea sävy~



After enjoying the coffee, we went to see the Moomin museum at the library. There were original drawings of Tove Jansson, the creator of world-famous Moomin troll books, on show as well as miniature models of the characters and scenes from the books made by Tove and her friends.

Unfortunately you aren’t allowed to take photos at the museum, but here’s what I wrote in the visitors’ book. Because the Moomin characters are really popular in Japan, lots of japanese tourists visit the museum too. I’m studying japanese, so I wrote a message to shamelessly advertise this blog~

Kahvilla terästäytymisen jälkeen menimme katsomaan Muumimuseota Tampereen kaupunginkirjastossa. Siellä pääsi näkemään Tove Janssonin originaalipiirroksia muumikirjoista, sekä miniatyyrimalleja muumikirjojen hahmoista ja kohtauksista Toven ja ystävien tekeminä.

Museossa ei saanut kuvata, harmi kyllä, mutta tässä näkyy mitä kirjoitin vieraskirjaan. Siellä käy paljon japanilaisia turisteja, joten päätin mainostaa heille wordpress-blogiani julkeasti, heheh. :D

Rainbow Dash kaveeraa yhden hattivatin kanssa. Hattivatit tarvitsisivat kyllä pesua... you ryvettyneet pikku patit.



I was delighted that Grandpa Grumble – one of the characters in the books – is called “Sukurutta Ojisan” in japanese. ^__^ It sounds funny.

Olin iloissani että Ruttuvaarin nimi japaniksi on “Sukurutta Ojisan”. ^__^ Se kuulostaa minusta hauskalta ja sen lisäksi olen vielä kova Ojisan-fani (eli suomeksi Setä-fani, trolol!) niin että… tähän teemaan sopivia juttuja on kiva löytää. Awws...

Sedät ne on niin kivoja.



If you ever visit Tampere, you should try the japanese restaurant called Maruseki. I’ve been there many times and the food is always delicious. We were about to go eat there but alas- it wasn’t open on Sundays. So, because it was recommended to us, we went to eat at Plevna. Plevna is a brewery-style restaurant with their own trademark beers.

Jos koskaan käyt Tampereella niin kokeile ihmeessä japanilaista ravintola Marusekiä. Olen ollut siellä monta kertaa ja ruoka on ollut aina herkullista. Meidän piti mennä sinne tälläkin kerralla, mutta ikävä kyllä se ei sitten ollutkaan auki sunnuntaisin...

Noh, tuttava suositteli meille Plevnaa joten päätimme kokeilla sitten sitä! Plevna on panimotyylinen ravintola ja heillä on omia oluita tarjolla.



I had this “Tähti”; a typical finnish-style lager beer as it was advertised. The word tähti means “star” so I just had to try it out, since my name Spica is the brightest star in the constellation of Virgo, so I’ve adopted all kinds of stars as my trademark-thingy.

Sitten olikin ihan pakko kokeilla tätä Tähti-olutta, suomalaistyylistä lageria, kuten sitä mainostettiin. Tähti onkin osuva sillä Spica on kirkkain tähti Neitsyen tähdistössä. Siksi olen ottanut tunnuksekseni kaikenlaiset tähdet...

Pakko kokeilu siis! Tähti kaljaa! C'mon!



I think the beer tasted OK, maybe a little “unmatured” in my opinion. They also had a traditional scandinavian mead (or sima) on their drink-menu. If you want to have a taste of what the vikings used to fuel their parties with, try this mead out. It was a little too sweet to my taste, but even so it is not so common to have mead on the menu so it is definitely worth to try it.

Olut maistui minusta OKlta, ehkä hieman kauemmin sitä olisi vielä voinut kypsyttää... tai jotain. Heillä oli myös perinteistä skandinaavista simaa tarjolla. Jos haluat eläytyä viikinkien party-tunnelmaan niin kokeilepa ihmeessä sitä! Oli ehkä vähän liian makeaa minun makuuni, mutta siltikin, ei ole niin yleistä että jossain olisi tarjolla simaa joten sitä kannattaa ehdottomasti kokeilla!



Wow, I sure ate “healthy” that weekend… Here’s the German-style currywurst and french fries I had at Plevna. Having eaten the “real thing” in Germany, I have to say this was pretty close to the original taste. Definitely a meal that “goes well” with a pint of beer… If you are a vegetarian, Plevna isn’t a place for you, though.

No minäpä söinkin toooosi terveellisesti sinä viikonloppuna.... Tässä saksalaistyylinen currywurst ja pommes jotka syöpöttelin Plevnassa. Koska olen syönyt "sitä aitoa oikeaa" Saksassa, voin sanoa että makuelämys oli aikasta lähellä originaalia. Todellakin oluen kanssa hyvin matchaava annos... heheh.

Jos olet kasvissyöjä, Plevna ei tosin ole paikka sinua varten...


Aaaand— then we have the WTF? -part of this post. This was painted on the feedback box of the restaurant… Beerbugs or bugbeers, you decide. At least they seem to be having fun…

The service was fast and the food was great – in fact the best we had here in Tampere this time. Currywurst was spicy enough, the french fries were crrrrispy and delicious, the beer-stewed beef tasty and the liver was fried skillfully. And not to mention the mead! Thank you! We will recommend Plevna to our friends and it is worth the trip from Turku to Tampere just to come and eat here!”

Even Stranger Things have Happened - A Visit to Tampere Part 1

Me, my sister and my friend took a short weekend trip to Tampere. Here’s a patch of photos that express some of the feelings and occurrences of that trip~

I would have wanted to take one of my dolls with me for a photoshoot at different surroundings but it was raining when we left home on Saturday so I decided to bring my G4 Rainbow Dash-pony as a surrogate photomodel instead. She fits in my pocket nicely, so she was safely out of the rain. ^__^
(BTW, do I detect a plausible reason to get me a YO-SD-sized doll (that is – ca. 25 cm BJD doll) – easier to take on trips when you can’t carry a huge 70 cm guy with you all the time? >:3 )


Kävimme siskoni ja kaverini kanssa lyhyellä viikonloppureissulla Tampereella. Tässä nippu kuvia jotka esittelevät joitakin tunnelmia ja tapahtumia tältä matkalta.~ Olisin halunnut ottaa jonkun nukeistani mukaan jotta olisin voinut kuvata häntä erilaisissa ympäristöissä, mutta kun lähdimme lauantaina, satoi joten päätin sensijaan ottaa G4 ponskuni Rainbow Dashin vara-valokuvamalliksi. Se mahtui mukavasti taskuuni, joten se oli turvassa sateelta. ^__^

 (Muuten, onkos tässä havaittavissa käypä “tekosyy” hankkia YO-SD (eli n. 25 cm BJD nukke) matkoille, jolloin ei voi kuskata jatkuvasti mukanaan 70 senttistä BJD miekkosta… hehe… >:3)

Apparently there has been a catering service on the trains for 100 years in Finland. They are having some special offers to celebrate it on the train cafeteria. Rainbow Dash has got her eyes on those chocolate pralines~

Um… yes, we do appreciate our retro here in Finland… eheheh. This is the train cafeteria from an older train. The ones that run on the Turku-Helsinki track are newer and flashier.

Eh... me täällä Suomessa todellakin ollaan retroilun luvattu maa, kuten junan ravintolavaunun sisustuksesta näkyy... ^^;; Jep jep. Onko hieno?



…aaaaand we’ve arrived at Tampere! No overall piccies of the city itself you can search the web to see those kind of photos elsewhere. We went to see a Text Art-exhibition at TR1 Art Hall. There were text and poetry art mainly by British artists on show there.

...jaaaa saavuimme Tampereelle! En jaksa laittaa mitn yleiskuvia kaupungista tähän, etsikää niitä muualta. Mentiin katsomaan Text Art-näyttely TR1 taidehalliin. Lähinnä Brittiläisten taiteilijoiden tekstitaidetta oli esillä siellä.

Some retrogame memories were presented at the media museum. I love the design of retrogames and the colorful pixel art of the characters.

There was a wall where you could write or draw about your favorite game/s. I drew Dante from Devil May Cry.

Taidehallin yhteydessä olevassa mediamuseossa oli esillä myös retropeli muistoja... Rakastan retropelien designia ja hahmojen värikästä pikselitaidetta.

Ja mitä kaikkein eniten rakastan, on se kun museoissa saa itse tuottaa jotain seinille! Tässä seinässä oli ideana mainostaa omaa lempparipeliään. Piirsin Danten. Joku lurjus oli käynyt ekan version nyysimässä sieltä niin että tässä Dante no 2 med bloginmainostuslappu! (wordpressille... eheheh)

...Jeh, tuo tekee kyllä minut halukkaaksi ostamaan, ehdottomasti. Harmi kun noita ei saa enää olisi varmasti kovakin myyntivaltti. :P

Coke ‘n’ Konoe~! What a delicious treat. Konoe here is a One Coin-Figure by Kotobukiya, he belongs to the series of figures called Chiral Gakuen, which means the Chiral Academy (basing on a group called Nitro+Chiral who make *amazing* Visual Novel-games~! Check them out, I mean it! (my favorite game by them so far is Togainu no Chi. But at the moment I'm interested in their newest game, DRAMAtical Murder. I'll probably make a post about Nitro+Chiral's games in the near future.).

Kokista ja Konoeta~! Mikä herkullinen yhdistelmä!

Konoe on Kotobukiyan valmistama One Coin-figuur, ja kuuluu Chiral Gakuen (eli Chiral opisto)-sarjaan. Perustuu Nitro+Chiralin alkuperäispeliin, he tekevät uskomattomia Visual Noveleita!! Tsekkaa ne (jos olet yli 18 tai olet henkisesti yli 18, Lol) ja eroget houkuttelevat. Lempparipelini heiltä on muuten Togainu no Chi, mutta uusin peli DRAMAtical Murder kiehtoo erityisesti tällä hetkellä myös! Tulen varmaan postaamaan näistä peleistä erikseenkin jossain vaiheessa.

 Tuolla Dinerissa oli just hyvä valaistus kuvata figuureja *pistää mieleen*.



…aaaaand here’s what I ate there! A gigantic plate of Diner-food. It’s a teriyaki-burger with cole-slaw. Cole-slaw is yummy!

Ja jos se ei ollut tarpeeksi pelottavaa, niin tässäpä iloinen rasia tekosilmiä! Pidä hauskaa! Mentiin käymään näyttelyssä, joka esitteli erilaisia... no tuollaisia juttuja. En tiedä miksi niitä kutsutaan suomeksi poliittisesti korrektisti joten parempi etten sano mitään.
