It's the most wonderful time of the year - time for Spicasmagoria's Advent Calendar! ( AND the season for stores to stock a lot of new toys for Christmas sales!)
Last year the Advent Calendar didn't make it until the end, but this year I'm prepared! I've taken some pictures beforehand and I have a few pictures I took last Christmas that I haven't posted. So even if there's no time to take photos every day, I have a back-up stash of photos. So I'll try to post something everyday. Please cheer me on! ;)
Here's Deka-Aobaca and Zorn-chan with our Christmas tree last year. I don't have a special theme for this advent calendar, I'll just post all kinds of random stuff as we go along. Every post is not necessarily that Christmassy, but do try to deal with it, ok?

Taas on se ihana aika vuodesta - Spicasmagorian joulukalenterin ensimmäinen luukku avautuu! (SEKÄ aika, jolloin kaupat taas täyttävät leluhyllynsä pullolleen joulusesonkia varten!)
Viime vuonna kalenteri ei edennyt maaliin asti, mutta tänä vuonna olenkin valmistautunut jo ennakkoon! Minulla on reservi kuvia, joita en ole aikaisemmin postannut minnekään. Joten, vaikka ei olisikaan aikaa kuvata joka päivä, minulla on varasto josta nykäistä. Yritän siis pitää kiinni päivittäisestä kalentereilusta. Olkaa ystävällisiä ja tsempatkaa mukana! ;)
Tässä Deka-Aobaca ja Zorn-chan viime vuoden joulukuusen katveessa. Kalenterilla ei ole mitään erityistä teemaa, postailen vain kaikenlaista randomia joulukuun edetessä. Välillä enemmän jouluteemaista, välillä taas vähemmän.
I'm back from my trip to Germany! I didn't have time to update my blog during the trip and in all honesty spending time offline felt good.
It was a fun trip! I've been to Hamburg countless times and by now it feels like another home to me.

Olen palannut matkalta Saksaan! Ei ollut matkan aikana oikein sellaista hetkeä että olisin ehtinyt blogia päivittämään, mutta oikeastaan ero netistä tuntui hyvältä.
Matka oli hauska! Vaikka olenkin ollut Hampurissa useita kertoja niin en silti koskaan kyllästy siihen. Hampuri tuntuu jo oikeastaan toiselta kodilta.

Halloween is coming right at us (!) and I'm so excited! I love Halloween! Our local Toys'R'Us had awesome decorations this year, I had to take pictures. Ever since I was a child, I've hoped for Halloween to be celebrated also here in Finland, and now it seems it really has set a foot here. I love creepy things and ghost stories!
I've been meaning to post more about toy-collecting and the toy hobby, but I always seem to forget to do it. Now I decided I should do something about the matter and for starters, I'll begin posting my shopping and bowsing gigs to toystores and toy aisles at malls.
...because it's fun, that's why!

Halloween on ihan nurkan takana ja olen niin innoissani! Rakastan Halloweenia! Läheinen Toys'R'Us oli pannut parastaan Halloween-koristelussa tänä vuonna. Oli pakko ottaa kuvia. Aina lapsesta lähtien olen toivonut ja toivonut että Halloweenia vietettäisiin täällä Suomessakin, ja nyt näyttää siltä että se on tosiaan tullut tänne jäädäkseen, ainakin jossain muodossa. Rakastan kummitusjuttuja ja karmivia asioita!
Minun on pitänyt postailla enemmän myös lelukeräilystä ja leluharrastuksesta, mutta aina se tuntuu jäävän. Nyt kuitenkin päätin ryhdistäytyä ja alkaa postailla shoppailu ja browsailu-retkistäni lelukauppoihin ja leluosastoille.
Yeah, a new friend joined us at the con: Aobaca's big brother! I've been wanting a big alpaca and preferably a blue one (because... reasons!). And then I saw this perfection is sitting at the counter and honestly I *tried* to resist... Really I did, I walked past it many times.
But then I remembered I was going to spend the night at my friend's place and the thought of sleeping and hugging a big alpaca was too much so I gave in. :'D (also I thought I'd had some fun with teasing my friends with the alpaca on the way to the apartment, mwahaha and so I did! x'D)

Nyt takaisin vielä minun Popcult viikonloppuni tunnelmiin hetkeksi tässä postauksessa (eka osa löytyy täältä!)
Jupp, conista tarttui matkaan uusi ystävä: Aobacan isoveli! Kuvassa feat. ystäväni kätöset! Olen himoinnut isoa alpakkaa ja mieluiten sinistä sellaista (koska... syyt!). Ja sitten siellä myyntitiskillä istuksii tällainen täydellisyys ja... minä *yritin* vastustaa kiusausta ihan totta! Kuljin alpakan ohi monta kertaa...
Mutta sitten muistin että olin menossa yöksi kaverin luokse ajatus nukkumisesta isoa alpakkaa halaten oli liikaa joten annoin periksi. :'D (ajattelin myös että saattaisi olla kivaa hiukan kiusata alpakalla kavereita matkalla kämpille, mwahahaa ja se olikin! x'D)

I've always loved toys. Well, I have to admit that when I was a teenager, there was a period of time when my toy-enthusiasm was on hold. That's when I packed away my My Little Ponies to be stored in the attic of our summer house. But that phase passed quickly (as it had more to do about "fitting in" with other junior highschoolers and less about what I really wanted to do and think) and I've let myself enjoy toys to my heart's content. The Ponies are allowed back in my life, not hidden away.
If it wasn't for my love for toys, I think I never would have gotten into the ball jointed doll hobby either. I know many BJD owners shun the word "toy" or "playing" when it comes resin dolls. But I think those words are not to be thought of as "down-grading".
I might add that BJDs aren't necessarily toys for children. They are works of art, but who says toys can't also be art? And I don't know about other people, but I get the same sense of excitement when photographing my dolls or coming up with their stories and characters as I did taking my Playmobils and My Little Ponies on adventures when I was little.
I've been meaning to blog more actively about toys and my... rather random ways of toy-collecting. I'm starting like right now. :)

Otapa kupillinen ja jutustellaan vähän leluista!
Olen aina rakastanut leluja. Vaikkakin, täytyy kyllä myöntää että teini-ikäsenä minullakin oli vaihe, jolloin leluharrastus oli tauolla. Silloin My Little Ponyt pakattiin talteen kesämökin ullakolle. Mutta onneksi se vaihe meni nopeasti ohitse (koska siinä oli enemmän kyse siitä, että yritin sopeutua olemaan kuten muut yläastelaiset, kuin siitä mitä oikeasti halusin ajatella ja tehdä) ja olen antanut itselleni luvan nauttia leluista sydämeni kyllyydestä. Ponitkin pääsivät takaisin elämääni eikä niitä tarvinnut enää piilotella.
Jos en olisi ollut jo valmiiksi innostunut leluista, en varmaan koskaan olisi alkanut harrastaa BJD-nukkejakaan. Tiedän, että monet BJD-harrastajat eivät oikein pidä sanoista "lelu" tai "leikkiminen" hartsinukkien yhteydessä. Mutta minusta noita sanoja ei tarvitse pitää vähättelevinä.
Voisin lisätä, että BJDt eivät välttämättä ole lasten leluja. BJDt ovat taide-esineitä, mutta kuka sanoo ettei lelu voisi olla taidetta? En tiedä muista, mutta itse saan ainakin miltei samanlaiset fiilikset BJDiden kuvaamisesta ja nukkehahmojen kehittelystä kuin aikanaan pienenä keksiessäni seikkailuja Playmobileilleni ja My Little Ponyilleni.
Olen pohtinut että voisin kirjoittaa blogiin enemmän leluista ja myös... hiukan sattumanvaraisista tavoistani harjoittaa lelukeräilyä. Ajattelin aloittaa juuri nyt. :)

Olin ystävien luona uudenvuoden aattona ja he olivat saaneet lahjoja Japanista. Oli pakko ottaa kuva tuosta suloisesta kagamimochista, joka on siis traditonaalinen japanilainen uuden vuoden koriste.

I bought myself an early Christmas present... because if I want something that's related to my hobbies (and by that I mean toy-collecting) I most likely have to buy it myself.
In my opinion, the Sweet Screams-series has some of the most interesting designs seen on Monster High dolls. I just love over the top styles on these dolls. At first I thought I'd just buy Sweet Screams Frankie but once I saw Sweet Screams Ghoulia in person, I didn't have to think twice before marching towards the sales counter...

Minusta SweetScreams on yksi onnistuneimmista Monster High-tuotoksista. Tykkään ihan älyttömästi tällaisista ihan övereistä stailauksista näillä nukeilla. Aluksi minua miellytti eniten Sweet Screams Frankie, mutta kun näin Sweet Screams Ghoulian kaupassa ei auttanut kuin marssia kohti myyntitiskiä...

We're pretty busy with Christmas clean-up so today it was frozen pizza from the supermarket for dinner. And you can see that I'm very weak-willed when someone bearing a slight resemblance to a husky/spitz-type dog with adorable derpy eyes peeks at me from the toy-shelves. x3
I collect brand stuffed animals for collectors but I just love cheap and funny-looking no-name toys as well. Although, I just don't buy stuff at random. The toy needs to "speak to me" in some way. ;) In this case it was the expression and the coloring on this doggy. You rarely see a brown husky stuffed toy and his eyes reminded me a bit of a bootleg Ginga Nagareboshi Gin -soft toy...
Also, he was cheap. And I needed someone to guard our pizzas.

12. luukku tulee ikävä kyllä nyt päivän jäljessä! Ottakaa pizzavahtikoira laihaksi (?) lohduksi.
Tällä hetkellä joulusiivoukset on täydessä käynnissä joten päivälliseksi oli pakastepizzaa. Kuten kuvasta näkyy, lankean todella helposti jos jokin etäisesti huskyä/pystykorvaa muistuttava tuijottaa minua karsastavilla silmillään leluhyllyltä anovasti. x3
Ostan keräilijöille suunniteltuja merkki-pehmoleluja, mutta toisaalta rakastan myös näitä halpoja ja hupsunnäköisiä no-name leluja myöskin. En tietenkään randomilla osta vaan mitä tahansa juttuja vaa lelun pitää jollain tasolla "puhutella minua" että haluan sen omakseni. ;) Tässä tapauksessa ilme ja koirun väritys voittivat minut puolelleen. Harvemmin näkee ruskeita husky-pehmoja ja sen silmät toivat mieleeni etäisesti feikki-Hopeanuoli-pehmolelun...
Myöskin, koiruliini oli halpa ja tarvitsin pizzavahdin.

So, I discovered Blings-dolls a couple of months ago. They are toys apparently meant as playthings for children. As such, they are not so fragile as other asian collectable dolls. The manufacturer is a Souh-Korean toy firm called Top-Promotion and I hear they are known for their good quality toys. Blings Vanilla Rabbit is no exception!

So my Plastic Pop order arrived last thursday. I wasn't expecting them until December, because when preordering, the estimated shipping time was 29. November. But here they are! (And gosh! Why do the deliverymen always ring the doorbell when I'm only half-dressed? :''D )
These are Make It Own-sets from Groove Inc., who produces Pullip-collector dolls. MIO for short. It means that you get an un-painted, un-assembled doll set without any clothing so you can come up with your own idea for a doll. So the possibilities are endless - much like with BJDs.
I got the Taeyang and Isul -sets - that is, the male counterparts of Groove's Pullip and Dal dolls. I was sure that they'd sell quickly and sure enough, they were out of stock in Plastic Pop right on the day these sets arrived. So it was wise to preorder. :3

This is the Taeyang-set. Taeyangs and Isuls are my favorites out of Groove's dolls. I love their bodies... (eh that sounded a bit wrong)... meaning that they pose rather nicely and are sturdy if compared to Pullips and Dals which are more fragile.
I also like the Taeyang-face sculpt most out of the dolls in the Pullip-doll line. It looks nice even when blank.

Tältä se sitten näyttää kun boksin availee. Tuo mieleen tee-se-itse-andoidi-setin. Ja se ei ole lainkaan huono mielleyhtymä minusta koska rakastan robotteja. :)
Tämä on Taeyang-setti. Taeyangit ja Isulit ovat Grooven nukeista lemppareimpiani. Tykkään niiden kehoista... eh, siis siinä mielessä että ne posettavat melko hyvin ja ovat kestäviä jos verrataan Pullipeihin ja Daleihin, jotka ovat herkempiä rikkoutumaan.
Tykkään Taeyangin naama-sculptista myös eniten kaikista Pullip-perheen nukeista. Se näyttää kivalta blankonakin.
The eye-mechanism. Looks like this one will be a rather complex puzzle to put together. Funnily they've included eyelashes as well (those hairy little spider-legs you see on the right), pasted them on the side of the box. Somehow I find them immensely amusing.

Silmämekanismi. Vaikuttaa siltä, että tästä tulee melko kinkkinen palapeli koottavaksi. Minua hauskuuttivat nuo mukaan tökätyt silmäripset (nuo karvaiset rimpsut tuossa oikealla), jotka oli kiinnitetty paketin kylkeen.
Makoto, My Isul MAO custom as an example of what could be expected of an Isul doll. Can you believe it, this is my first photo of a Groove doll in ages! I've been more into BJDs for a long time now, mainly because I never really felt statisfied with my Groove-doll photography...
I'm not perfect in photographing BJDs either but personally I find it easier than shooting Groove dolls. And I like posing BJDs better than these, I love the tension that the stringing causes in BJDs.
However, I'm starting to rekindle my interest into these little buggers more and more now.

Olen ollut enemmän kiinni BJD-harrastuksessa lähiaikoina, enimmäkseen siitä syystä että en koskaan ollut oikein tyytyväinen Groove-nukeista ottamiini kuviin...
En ole täydellinen BJD-kuvaamisessakaan, mutta se on silti minulle helpompaa kuin Groove-nukkien kuvaus. Ja tykkään enemmän BJD-nukkien asettelusta, rakastan sitä jännitystä, jonka stringaus aiheuttaa BJDillä ja saa ne ikäänkuin kantamaan omaa painoaan.
Nyt olen kuitenkin sytyttelemässä uudelleen intoani näihin pikku pallopäihin.

I've never put an Obitsu-body on a Pullip doll, but my Dal Tina (or Mackenzie as I've named her) has a broken arm and a floppy body so I decided to try a hybrid body for her. Alas, you should always check before buying, this is a soft bust body and apparently you can only make hybrids with hard busts. *facepalm*
Oh well, I'll just have to change the whole body then. At least she'll have bigger breasts. (Lucky for you Mackenzie, eh?)
I rather like the look of this body, though. I've only ever seen a male Obitsu doll at a friend's place before, and I liked him a lot. At least I'm having fun with poking the body in the stomach, it's so springy, whee! (A-hem! This doll stuff is serious business, mind you!)

En ole koskaan vaihtanut Obitsu-vartaloa Pullip-nukelle, mutta Dal Tinani (tai Mackenzie kuten nimesin sen) käsivarsi on ollut rikki heti paketista ottamisen jälkeen ja sen vartalo on muutenkin melko lerppu ja ärsyttävä, joten päätinpä sitten kokeilla sille hybridivartaloa obitsun kanssa.
Tästä opimme että pitäisi aina tarkistaa asiat ennen kuin ostaa, tämä vartalo on soft bust ja ilmeisesti hybridejä voi tehdä vain hard bust-vartaloiden ja nuken oman stock-vartalon kanssa. *läimäyttää itseään otsaan parhaaseen Jean-Luc Picard tyyliin*
No, täytynee sitten vaan vaihtaa koko vartalo. Ainakin Mackenzie saa sitten isommat tissit. (Onnekasta vai mitä, Mac?)
Tykkään siitä miltä tämä vartalo näyttää. Olen aiemmin nähnyt Obitsu nuken vain kerran kaverin luona ja tykkäsin siitä kovasti. Minulla on myös varsin hauskaa kun huvittelen tökkimällä tämän obitsun vatsaa, se on niin joustava, hiiii! (Öh-höm! Tämä nukkeilu se on sitten vakavaa ja aikuismaista puuhaa!)
Shoes! It's so damn hard to find fitting shoes for Taeyangs and finally Groove has heard our prayers!
I'm hoping these might also fit a certain somedoll that a friend has ordered for me and that I heard has been shipped towards Finland recently... *being very secretive, hee*

I'm still not sure what to make of these blank Taeyang and Isul -sets I bought. I'm considering turning them into my original characters. Another option would be to customize my favorite characters from the DRAMAtical Murder and Togainu no Chi-visual novels.
I'd really like a Clear Taeyang... Hmm.
We shall see.

Bonuskuva! Naama irti vai naamiaiset? Onko se gorea vaiko vain viatonta naamio-iloittelua? Päätä sinä!
En ole vielä varma mitä teen noista Taeyang ja Isul-seteistä. Pohdin pitäisikö niistä tehdä omia hahmojani vaiko tuunata parit lempparihahmoni visual noveleista DRAMAtical Murder ja Togainu no Chi.
Clear from DRAMAtical Murder. Would he make a nice Taeyang doll? I bet that gas mask would be a pain to make, haha!
My favorite character from Dmmd is Koujaku, but I'm not too keen on painting the massive tattoos he has on my Taeyang. Clear looks like he'd be easier to make, the face is much more neutral so I bet it'd be OK to paint. I also like the fact that Clear is an android, and since the taeyang in pieces already reminds me of an andoid, I think it would be fitting.
And Clear is my second fav! ^3^

Oikeastaan lempparini tästä pelistä on Koujaku, mutta en aio lähteä maalaamaan Taeeni niitä tatuointeja. Clear olisi helpompi tehdä, kasvomeikit ovat aika neutraalit. Lisäksi pidän siitä ajatuksesta että tämä hahmo on androidi, kun palasina oleva Taeyang tuo jo valmiiksi andoidit mieleeni.

Wüsti here is a fennec - oder eine Wüstenfuchs wie man es auf Deutsch nennt. Foxes are among my favorite animals and as you might have noticed at some point, I collect all kinds of foxy things. I try to find something fox-related as a souvenir everytime I travel somewhere (well, maybe not from Sweden, because I go there so often I'd be in trouble if I'd get fox stuff from every trip. ^^;; ).
It just so happened that Wüsti was waiting for me at a little antiquities shop in Ratzeburg where we stopped on our day trip outside Hamburg a couple weeks ago. He was stacked on a shelf full of old toys, only his adorable little face was visible and I found something very appealing in those honey-brown glass-eyes.
I've collected Steiff animals for sometime now and I recognized the distinctive silver button on his left ear and the typical expression that can only belong to a Steiff animal. At first glance I thought he was a dog of some sort but when I asked the shopkeeper if I could have a closer look, his fox tail came into view.
It was settled then and there that Wüsti would be coming home with me. :-) A later research around the web revealed that he's from the 1960's, and is a fennec by the production name "Xorry". He's in a pretty good condition, no missing fur, clearly he has been kept safe from a too harsh manner of playing. Although the fact that his tags are missing reduce his collectible value somewhat. That doesn't bother me though, I love him and he's my one-of-a-kind Wüsti.
...at some point he was going to be called Ratz after Ratzeburg, but everytime I think of him, my mind always brings up the name Wüsti. So he's Wüsti.

Wüsti tässä on aavikkokettu eli fennekki. Tai Wüstenfuchs kuten niitä saksaksi sanotaan. Ketut ovat lempparieläimiäni kuten kaikki varmaan tulevat huomaamaan jossain vaiheessa, koska keräilen kaikkea kettuaiheista. Yritän aina matkoilta löytää jotakin ketukasta matkamuistoksi. (No ei ehkä Ruotsista aina kun siellä tulee käytyä niin usein. Olisin pulassa kaikkien niiden kettuisten asioiden kanssa. ^^;; )
Tapahtuipa sillä lailla että Wüsti napotti odottamassa minua pienessä antiikkikaupassa Ratzeburgissa, missä kävimme päiväretkellä samaisella Hampurin matkalla josta palasin vähän aikaa sitten. Siellä se oli tungettuna hyllylle muiden vanhojen lelujen joukkoon, vain suloinen pikku naama oli näkyvillä ja jotenkin ne hunajanruskeat lasisilmät vetosivat minuun sieltä kaapin perältä. Tunnistin Steiffin pehmolelutehtaan eläimille tyypillisen pienen hopeisen napin vasemmassa korvassa, sekä Steiff-omaisen ilmeen eläimen kasvoilla.
Ensivilkaisulta luulin että kyseessä olisi jonkinsortin koira, mutta kun pyysin kaupan pitäjältä että saisin tarkastella otusta lähempää, Wüstin ketunhäntä tuli näkyville. Siitä hetkestä lähtien oli ihan päivänselvää että Wüsti lähtee minun kanssa kotiin. :-) Kyllä kettu kettufanin tunnistaa ja järkkäsi anovalla katseellaan itselleen kodin. Ovelaa..
Myöhempi tutkimusmatkailu netissä paljasti että Wüsti on 1960-luvulta ja on kuin onkin aavikkokettu tuotantonimeltään "Xorry". Se on hyvässä kunnossa, turkissa ei ole kulumaa ja sitä on selkeästi säästelty liian rajulta leikkimiseltä. Se, että alkuperäiset tuotelaput puuttuvat, laskee hieman keräilyarvoa, mutta se ei minua haittaa, koska Wüsti on rakas ja ainutlaatuinen minun Wüstini.
...jossain vaiheessa sille piti tosin tulla nimeksi Ratz Ratzeburgin mukaan, mutta aina kun ajattelen sitä mieleen nousee nimi Wüsti joten Wüsti se sitten on.
From the same antiquities shop I found this old photograph - I'm quessing it's from the early 20th century. I might have mentioned in Souvenirs from Liminka-post that I collect old photographs especially of bearded gentlemen.
He's bearded, stylish and has fun at the beach with birds. This photo is one of my favorite things ever. ^__^
There's something utterly poetic about this picture. The way the waves break in the background, how the wind has caught hem of the man's coat, the way the birds almost look like they stand still in mid-air. The slight smile that curves his lips.
Somehow, whoever he was, I hope he had a good life.

Samasta antiikkikaupasta löytyi myös tämä vanha valokuva jonka arvelen olevan 1900-luvun alusta. Saatoin mainita siitä matkamuistoja Limingasta-postauksessani että keräilen vanhoja valokuvia eritoten parrakkaista sedistä.
Hän on parrakas, tyylikäs ja huvittelee rannalla lintujen kanssa. Tämä kuva on yksi suosikeimmistani asioista ikinä. ^__^
Tässä kuvassa on jotain hyvin runollista. Tapa jolla aallot rikkoutuvat taustalla, miten tuuli on tarttunut miehen takin helmaan, se miten linnut näyttävät kuin leijuvat paikallaan ilmassa. Pieni hymynkare miehen huulilla.
Kuka setä olikaan, toivottavasti hänellä oli hyvä elämä.

I might have mentioned it in this blog before, but I've only recently discovered the charm of Littlest Pet Shop animals. And by this I mean the earlier versions that resemble real animals more (well,that argument can be debated, I know ;) than the more recent ugly-talent-show-whatever-I-don't-even-care versions which have invaded the toy shelves of markets and toy shops everywhere.
...The problem with this is that you have to go through a bit more trouble to get these guys than just walk to the toy-aisle in the nearest supermarket. Or maybe that's what intriques me in them too. Well, I happened to stop by a small independent toy-store that stocks older toys as well and struck Littlest Pet Shop Gold there!
Lots of adorable older versions of LPS animals, some of them on bargain sale too! ^3^ This little bison here caught my eye immediately. He's just too cute.

Taidan olla maininnut siitä täsä blogissa jo aemmin, mutta olen vasta äskettäin havainnut että pidän myös Littlest Pet Shop eläimistä.
Ja tällä tarkoitan siis näitä aikaisempia versioita, jotka muistuttavat enemmän oikeita eläimiä (noh, tämä väittämä voidaan kyllä kumota helposti, tiedän ;-) kuin ne uudet tämänhetkiset yöks-talent-kisa-mitä-ikinä-ei-kiinnosta versiot jotka ovat tehneet invaasion markettien leluhyllyille kaikkialla.
...Ongelmana tässä on vain se, että täytyy nähdä vähän enemmän vaivaa näitä kavereita saadakseen kuin vain käppäillä lähimmän marketin leluosastolle. Tai ehkä se myös näissä kiehtookin. Satuin käymään pienessä yksityisessä lelukaupassa, joka pitää valikoimissaa myös vähän vanhempia leluja ja iskin Littlest Pet Shop-kultasuoneen siellä!
Siellä oli melko paljon söpöjä vanhempia LPS elukoita, jotkut niistä myös alennetuilla hinnoilla! ^3^ Tämä pikku biisoni osui heti silmiini, se on vaan ihan liian suloinen.

Back in 2006-2007 I was a big fan of Disney's The Emperor's New School and during that time I started digging all things inca. Llamas and alpacas too! So I was a hip alpaca-lover before most of the people could even tell an alpaca from a vicuña! Let alone from a guanaco! Damn it! ;''D

No I'm still not done with the Liminka posts! I'll just have to show you the stuff I bought there. Although I didn't have any intention to do shopping while I was there, it just happened~
Studio Killers' album was the soundtrack of my stay in Liminka. I somehow stumbled across their music and fell in love immediately. I remember that I saw the music video to Ode to the Bouncer last December and wrote it down somewhere but then I forgot the whole thing until now!
Luckily a local CD-store in Oulu had just *one* copy of their first album (which was released this June!). Yes, I'm one of those - maybe a bit old-fashioned people who like to buy their music on discs and get something you can hold in your hand, not just some bits on a memorystick.
I really love the songs "Jenny" and "Eros and Apollo".
Lisää Liminka-johdannaisia postauksia! Mutta on vain pakko postata siellä tekemistäni shoppailuista. Tavoitteena ei ollut shoppailumatkailua tällä kertaa mutta... jotenkin se vain... tapahtui~
Studio Killersin albumi oli Liminkavierailuni taustamusiikki. Ollessani siellä löysin tämän yhtyeen ja ihastuin siihen välittömästi. Muistan kyllä nähneeni musiikkivideon kappaleeseen Ode to the Bouncer joskus joulukuussa, mutta sitten vain unohdin Studio Killersin kunnes nyt löysin sen uudelleen!
Onneksi paikallinen levyliike Oulussa piti valikoimassaan *tasan* yhtä levyä (joka muuten julkaistiin kesäkuussa!). Niin, olen vanhanaikainen, tykkään ostaa musiikkini levyinä ja omistaa jotain konkreettista bittien sijaan.
Popitan kappaleita "Jenny" ja "Eros and Apollo".
Heh, well I didn't buy that house, only the old photographs I found from the Vintage Store that was in business inside the house. ;-D
Much to my surprise, the opportunities for shopping in Liminka had increased since my last visit a couple of years ago. When traveling, I recommend taking a peek inside vintage shops where you can find un-expected and out-of-the-ordinary souvenirs.
I love old photographs! I don't know yet what I'll do with these, maybe I'll use them in some art project, or just frame them to decorate my walls. Much to my disappointment, the shopkeeper had punched holes on some of the photos to make them into bookmarks. And in the process ruined them.
I still bought them since some of the punctured photos had friendly-looking old gentlemen with beards pictured in them. Most people only look for pretty women with frilly epoque dresses in old photos, but I go for the bearded men. I'm strange that way. ;-)
I somehow feel a bit bad for the old gentlemen in the photos since not many modern people appreciate the beard- and moustache styling of the 1800's and early 1900's.
My sister had a good suggestion for how I could use these "bookmarks" - I could hand them in the Christmas tree by the ribbon attached to them and make christmas decorations out of them. Not a bad idea. Not bad at all.
After all, baubles are so mainstream.

Hehe, en sentään ostanut taloa, ainoastaan nuo vanhat valokuvat jotka löysin Vanhan tavaran puodista talon sisältä. ;-D
Yllätyksekseni Limingan shoppausmahdollisuudet olivat lisääntyneet viime visiittini jälkeen. Suosittelen että matkoilla kannattaa käydä vanhan tavaran kaupoissa koska niistä voi löytää odottamattomia ja erilaisia matkamuistoja.
Rakastan vanhoja valokuvia! En ole vielä selvillä siitä mitä aion tehdä näillä kuvilla. Ehkä käytän niitä jossain taideprojektissa, tai sitten kehystän ne seinälle. Harmikseni kaupan pitäjä oli mennyt rei'ittämään joitakin kuvia tehden niistä kirjanmerkkejä. Ja minusta iso reikä kuvan keskellä on valokuvan pilaamista.
Ostin ne silti, koska muutamissa rei'itetyissä kuvissa oli ystävällisen näköisiä herrasmiehiä partoineen. Useimmat ihmiset ottavat mukaansa vanhoja valokuvia, joissa on nättejä naisia röyhelöisissä epookkiasuissa, mutta minä. Minä etsin partasetiä. Olen sillä tavalla vähän hassu. ;-)
Minun käy jotenkin vähän sääliksi noita setiä parroissaan, koska kovinkaan monet nykyihmiset eivät tunnu arvostavan 1800-luvun ja 1900-luvun alun parta- ja viiksistyylausmuotia.
Siskollani oli hyvä ehdotus siihen miten voisin käyttää noita "kirjanmerkkejä". Voisin ripustaa ne nauhoista joulukuuseen koristeiksi. Ei huono idea, ei ollenkaan.

It's become a rather habit of mine to buy an MH doll whenever I go on a trip of somekind. I bought Robecca Steam last winter when visiting a friend, and Snow Bite Draculaura and Little Red Riding Wolf Clawdeen from Germany and now Venus while visiting Oulu.
I haven't seen this version of Venus before, I rather like styling on her. Especially that neon-green belt~

After some researching on the net I identified the orange one as Tiny Yarn Hair-series' Sparkleworks. The blue pony is probably Shenanigans because of her hot-air balloon cutiemark.
I'm more into G1 and the new G4 ponies, so I'm not very good at identifying anypony from the G3 era (well apart from the obvious Pinkie Pie, Scootaloo etc.), but I still love G3 ponies as well. Especially the ponies outside the Core 7 of G3.

Kaksi G3 pehmoponskua!
Vähän netissä tutkailtuani tunnistin oranssin ponin Tiny Yarn Hair-pehmoponien Sparkleworks'iksi. Sininen ponsku on luultavimmin Shenanigans koska sillä on symbolina kuumailmapallo.
Olen enemmänkin innoissani G1- sekä uusista G4 poneista, joten en ole kovin hyvä tunnistamaan G3 poneja (tai siis muita kuin niitä tunnetuimpia Pinkie Pieta, Scootaloota jne.), mutta tykkään silti kovasti G3 poneistakin.
Varsinkin niistä muista kuin Core 7-poneista.

Seems like she's been made with the same mold as the original G4 ponies. A yellow and hot pink Twilight Sparkle fake. ~.~ I haven't seen a fakey this close to the original of G4 ponies before!

I haven't collected Bionicles before but I got interested in them via Rana's blog

And these guys were in good condition, didn't seem to be missing any parts and such, so I had to take them home with me. :-)
I have no idea of the characters or names of these guys, let alone if they are worth anything (ie. if they are rare models or not), but I liked them so yeah.

Kaksi LEGO Bionicle-hahmoa... En ole aiemmin keräillyt näitä, mutta innostuin Bionicleista Ranan blogin ((Muovimaailma-blogi; Palikkatason Kliimaksi-Bionicle aiheinen postaus.)) myötä joten kun hyväkuntoisia Bionicleja tuli vastaan niin pakkohan ne oli korjata talteen.
En tosin tiedä noiden hintatasoa, enkä hahmojakaan, joten en tiedä oliko tämä hyvä kauppa vai ei... mutta minä pidin niistä joten siinä. :-)

Namely Marshmallow, my Pink Fluffy Unicorn. I promised myself before entering the second hand shop that I wouldn't be buying any plush animals, but alas, I ended up buying the G3 MLPs and... Marsmallow!
He's a Russ Luky-plush and he was sitting at a shelf with lots of horse-stuff around him.
It makes me a little bit sad how many ex-horse-lover girls sell all their stuff when they have "outgrown" the hobby. Just like people who sell all of their childhood books, music CDs and cassettes at second hand stores and flea markets. It's like they are selling away their childhood.
I just couldn't resist Marshmallow's charms. He was sitting all alone, abandoned and forgotten, looking too sad (and he was clean and wasn't missing any fur, which is unusual for a plushy in Finnish second hand shops.). And I was strongly influenced by this;

Nimittäin Vaahtokarkin! Minun Pinkin Pörröisen Yksisarviseni. Lupasin itselleni ennenkuin astuin kirpputorille, että en ostaisi enää pehmoeläimiä, mutta ei voi mitään, päädyin ostamaan ne G3 ponipehmot sekä Vaahtokarkin!
Vaahtis on Russ-merkkinen "Luky"-niminen pehmo ja löysin sen istumasta myyntitiskiltä, jossa oli paljon kaikenlaista heppakamaa myöskin. Tulen aina hieman surulliseksi kun entiset heppatytöt myyvät pois vanhat hevostelutavaransa kun ovat "kasvaneet ulos" harrastuksesta.
Ihan kuin nekin ihmiset jotka myyvät kaikki lapsuuden satukirjansa, lastenlaulu CDnsä ja kasettinsa kirpputorilla. Aivan kuin he myisivät pois lapsuutensa.
En vain voinut vastustaa Vaahtokarkin lumoja, se kun istui ihan yksin ja hylättynä näyttäen liian surulliselta (ja se oli puhdas ja kaikki karvat tallella, mikä ei ole niinkään yleistä kirppispehmoissa...). Sekä inspiroiduin ostamaan nimenomaan pinkin yksisarvisen tuon ylläolevan videoklipin ansiosta!
