I was meaning to post this on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, but decided not to open my computer on Christmas at all. Hopefully all of you had lovely times over Christmas even without timely greetings from me. ;)

Tarkoituksenani oli postata jouluntoivotukset näiden kuvien kera jouluaattona tai joulupäivänä, mutta päätin pitää sittenkin digipaastoa joulun ajan enkä avannut tietokonetta ollenkaan. Toivottavasti teillä kaikilla oli mukavat joulunpyhät ilman minun ajankohtaisia toivotuksianikin. ;)

...is it hard to quess who is the favorite doll from my crew? :D Remy is just so adorable and photogenic, I can't help but photograph her a lot! (Do you play any favorites with your dolls/toys? Tell me about them!)

Christmas isn't over yet! To me it lasts all the way to Epiphany or the 6th of January! So I can still post Christmassy photos! But yeah, the main holidays are over.

Today is the Independence Day of Finland! In my family, we've had the tradition to light two candles on each window. This tradition dates back to the 1920's when candles were lit in protest against Russian oppression.

The meetup was on 30th May, I took a whole bunch of photos and didn't have energy to go through them before now... But now I bring you a crapload of crappity crap ol' pictures ahead so "Be prepared"!!! The dolls are pretty though. But I had trouble with the composition and lighting of these photos but at least I got some pictures to remember the meet by!

Miitti oli 30. toukokuuta ja otin toooosi paljon kuvia enkä sitten jaksanut käydä niitä läpi ennenkuin nyt... Ja älyttömästi huonohkoja kuvia edessä joten valmistautukaa siihen! Nuket tosin ovat nättejä, mutta minulla oli paljon vaikeuksia kuvien rajaamisen ja valotuksen suhteen. Siksi ne ovat tuollaisia vähän miten sattuu räpsittyjä mutta onpahan jotain kuvia edes joita katsellessa voi muistella kivaa miittiä!

Spica goes Hellocon 2015!

Soooo here's the long-awaited (or probably not...) Hellocon 2015 post from my point of view.

But first I'd like to beg all of your pardon for not answering to comments or commenting you back and not answering messages on other social media for a while. I'll try to get more active on Blogger and elsewhere.

It's just that there's been a lot of assignments I've had to do and I've wanted some off-computer time. I'm a somewhat old-fashioned person in the sense that being available on social media all the time is a little over-whelming to me and I feel stressed out by it easily. However, I worry that it might come out as being rude or disinterested if I don't answer messages in a reasonable amount of time. I'd just like to make it clear that that's not the case, I'm just recharging my social-media batteries. I hope you understand. :)

During my absence, Spicasmagoria has reached a little over 100 followers! Yay, thank you everyone! ^3^ Soon it's time to announce the special give-away event that I've promised to hold. I'll get back to that later on!

No Niiiiiin tässä tulee sitten se pitkään odotettu (tai sitten ei...) Hellocon 2015 postaus minun näkökulmastani.

Ensin kuitenkin haluaisin esittää pahoitteluni kun en ole vastannut kommentteihin tai kommentoinut blogeihinne takaisin sekä myös siitä että olen viettänyt hiljaiseloa muuallakin sosiaalisessa mediassa.

Yritän taas aktivoitua Bloggerissa ja muualla. On ollut paljon tehtäviä joita on pitänyt tehdä enkä ole niiden lisäksi jaksanut olla niin paljon koneella. Olen hiukan vanhanaikainen ihminen siinä mielessä, että jatkuva "saatavilla oleminen" sosiaalisessa mediassa on hieman uuvuttavaa minulle ja stressaan siitä helposti. Minua kuitenkin huolestuttaa, että saatan vaikuttaa epäkohteliaalta tai siltä ettei minua kiinnostaisi, jos en vastaa viesteihin nopeasti. Haluaisinkin siis todeta että asia ei suinkaan ole näin, latailen tässä vain hiukan sosiaalinen media-akkujani. Toivottavasti ymmärrätte. :)

Blogin lukijamäärä onkin poissaoloaikanani kivunnut yli 100 lukijaan (kiitos kaikille! ^3^) joten pian olisi aika julkistaa lupaamani special give-away eventti. Mutta siitä myöhemmin.

Advent Calendar door11 - In the Sea of Fairy Lights

Before I started the Advent calendar I thought I'd try to photograph dolls that have had little on-screen time. But I can't help it that my favorites tend to steal the show! (And Remy's just so easy and fun to take along when going out...)

Ennen kuin aloitin joulukalenterin, suunnittelin kuvaavani niitä nukkejani, joita on harvemmin nähty. Mutta en voi sille mitään että suosikkini yrittävät varastaa show'n! (Ja Remy kun on vaan niin helppo ottaa mukaan kun menee jonnekin...)

Advent Calendar door 03 - A Christmas Greeting, Pom-style!

Yesterday's advent calendar door had Xavier with his Christmas card, so this time I wanted to show the super-cute Christmas card that I myself got at the dollmeet. :3
The drawing on the card depicts Remy, my Soom Necy surprise and she really looks just like my Remy, down to that little heart on her cheek. Awww~
I am really touched that I got such a sweet little greeting card and it's always heart-warming when someone has drawn something just for me~  <3

Eilisen luukussa komeili Xavier joulukortteineen. Tällä kertaa ajattelin esitellä itse miitissä saamani aivan ihanan kortin, josta kurkistaa suloinen piirros Remystä. Ja on kyllä ihan Remyn näköinen, pikkuruinen sydänkin on muistettu piirtää poskeen. :3 Lämmitti kyllä mieltä saada näin söpö ja vielä itse piirretty kortti~ <3

Curse you, summer flu!

15.7.Get well soon, little Remy!

I've had a horrible case of summer flu during the past week and it still hasn't let up. It's no fun at all! I haven't been able to go outside so I've had to skip the summer doll photo-challenge for multiple days.

But yeah, I dug up a book to try and read and I have a manga-recommendation specially for you my friend, just look under the cut!

Minulla on ollut koko viikon ihan kauhea kesäflunssa eikä se vieläkään tahdo hellittää. Ei ole yhtään kivaa! En ole oikein voinut käydä ulkona kuvaamassa, joten on täytynyt skipata monta päivää Pullip Suomen kesänukkekuvaushaasteesta.

Mutta jep, kaivoin esiin kirjan jota olen ajatellut alkaa lukea ja myöskin väsäsin mangasuosittelun specially for you my friend, joten kurkistapa tähän postaukseen!

Wintery Remy and Xav!

Winter isn't my favorite time of the year but I quess seasonal dolly-piccies make it more tolerable... or do they?
At least Remy here seems to have a hoot with what little snow we have in Southern Finland. When I first started taking doll pics I thought one of the most fun things would be to document the changing of seasons through doll-photography. Well, nowadays I'm often too lazy to get myself outside with a doll and a heavy camera, but after this shoot I think I should do it more often.

...even though it was so cold that I only got a couple of post-worthy pics (the others were too blurry due to my hands shaking from the cold. >.< ).

Talvi ei ole suosikkivuodenaikani, mutta vuodenaika-nukkekuvat tekevät siitä luultavasti helpomman sietää... vai tekevätkö ne?
Ainakin Remy tässä näyttää saavan kicksejä siitä vähäisestä lumesta mitä Etelä-Suomessa tällä hetkellä on. Kun aloitin ottaman nukkekuvia, tuumin että yksi hauskimmista asioista olisi vuodenaikojen ja sesonkien vaihtumisen kuvaainen nukkekuvien välityksellä. No, nykyisin olen yleensä liian laiska raahautumaan ulos nuken ja painavan kameran kanssa, mutta näiden kuvien ottamisen jälkeen tuli sellainen olo että ehkä sitä pitäisi kuitenkin tehdä useammin.

...vaikka olikin niin kylmä että pelkästään muutama kuva on postaamiskelpoisia (muut tärähtivät koska käteni tärisivät kylmästä niin pahasti. >.< )

 I wanted to go for a peppy look for Remy with this outfit.

I've slightly changed Xavier's style again. Isn't it funny how on some dolls there's a set style straight from the beginning while others keep changing styles all the time?

I'm really liking these limited color wigs I received from Leeke, the Mystery Black is really pretty, finally a color that looks good on Xav! I got tired of trying to decide what color of eyes I'd try to force on Xav this time, and went with my favorite eye-color, purple.
I really love Xav's profile and I think that emo-style strands over one eye (and a ponytail!) is his trademark. ;) He looks best like that with every wig.

Muutin taas Xavierin tyyliä hiukan. Eikö olekin hassua, miten joillekin nukeille muodostuu heti alusta jokin tietty pysyvä tyyli ja sitten toisilla tyylit vaihtelevat?

Tykkään tosi paljon näistä uusista limited-värisistä peruukeista jotka tulivat Leekeltä, Mystery Black on tosi kaunis, ja viimeinkin väri joka tuntuu sopivat Xaville! Väsyin pohtimaan minkä väriset silmät yritän pakottaa Xaville tällä kertaa ja menin helpoimman kautta; lempiväriseni violetit silmät sen olla pitää!
Xavin profiili on minusta hieno ja luulen että tuo emomainen hiukset toisen silmän päällä-tyyli (+ poninhäntä) on Xavin tuotemerkki koska jätkä näyttää parhaalta kaikissa peruukeissa siten. ;3

It's been a while since I've last photographed Xav, my first ball jointed doll. While taking these pics a thought came to my mind about a series of posts, each "introducing" my dolls one at a time. I'd like to write about the good and bad points of that doll, and what thoughts the character rises in me. Would you like to read posts like that or do you think that the doll-profiles (that I should update again soon) are sufficient enough? :3

Santa's Trusty Watchdog - Spicasmago Advent Calendar 18

Nyt kävi niin että on pakko skipata 16 ja 17 luukku, anteeksi! ^^;; Olen ollut kamalan kiireinen parina viime päivänä, joten ei kuvia niiltä.
Tämän päivän luukussa onkin sitten pieni (ja surkea kuvanlaadultaan koska kiire) kuvatarina, jonka tein Hartsilapset-foorumin joulukalenteriluukkuun. Olin siis vastuussa siitä tänään!

Remy: I'm helping Santa Claus this year! I'll keep watch of the presents so that no-one dares to try and touch them before Christmas Eve. You know, we pomeranians are awesome watchdogs! I won't let anyone come near the present stash until it's due time.

Christmas Teacup Pomeranian! - Spicasmago Advent Calendar 04

Ever heard of teacup pomeranians? They are a tiny tiny dog breed, even smaller than a real pomeranian, small enough to fit into a teacup, and that is one tiny pup! They probably are just an urban legend of sorts, an internet hoax. Pomeranians don't fit into teacups, as you can see. But they can always try!

Oletko koskaan kuullut teekuppi pomeranianeista? Ne ovat pienen pieni koirarotu, jopa pienempi kuin oikeat pomeranianit, niin pieniä että mahtuvat teekupin sisälle, ja se vasta onkin pikkuinen penikka se! Mitä luultavimmin teekuppi-pomeranianit ovat vain urbaanilegenda ja nettihuijausta. Pomeranianit eivät mahdu teekuppeihin (ainakaan kokonaan), kuten kuvasta näkyy. Mutta ne voivat aina yrittää!

One of our Christmas family-traditions is the Christmas tableware. We always eat from the same plates and drink tea and coffee from the same cups every Christmas. We never use them otherwise, these are special tableware, just to be used on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Seeing a table laid out with those familiar cups and plates adds to the festive feeling. I was a kid when we bought these teacups from Hamburg, from a department store called Brinkmann that doesn't exist anymore.. I still remember clearly how the cups were carefully wrapped in silk paper.

The Kaiser Porcelain factory used to produce different Christmas cups for each year and these are the cups from 1994. I was in grade-school back then.

Yksi perheemme joulutraditioista on joulukattaus. Joka joulu syömme samoilta lautasilta ja juomme kahvit ja teet samoista kupeista. Emme käytä näitä astioita muulloin, ne ovat varattu erityisesti jouluaattoa, joulupäivää ja tapaninpäivää varten.

Kun näkee nämä tutut astiat kattauksessa, minusta se lisää juhlan tuntua. Olin lapsi kun nämä teekupit ostettiin Hampurista, tavaratalosta nimeltä Brinkmann, jota ei enää ole... Muistan edelleen selvästi kun kupit käärittiin rapisevaan silkkipaperiin.

Kaiser posliinitehdas valmisti erilaisia kuppeja joka joulu ja nämä kupit ovat vuodelta 1994. Taisin olla siihen aikaan vielä peruskoulussa.

Luka: "Hi! Spica took us with her to the doll-hobbyist meet yesterday! She told us that we had to wear something Christmassy so she stuck these ridiculous-looking hats on our heads. I'm not sure if I can face other werewolves ever again..."

Remy: "I like gingerbreads! <3"

Luka: "...you like everything edible..."

Luka: "Hei vaan! Spica otti meidät mukaan nukkemiittiin! Se sanoi että meidän pitää pukea ylle jotain jouluista, joten meni sitten ja iski päihimme tällaiset naurettavannäköiset hatut. En varmaan enää koskaan pysty katsomaan muita ihmissusia silmiin..."

Remy: "Minä tykkään piparkakuista! <3"

Luka: "...sinä se nyt tykkäät kaikesta syötävästä..."

Luka: "Would you care for an apple? I promise it is not poisonous. *wolfish smile*"

Spica: "Ok, eventhough I decided to let the dolls (and possibly figures) handle the Advent calendar this year, I'll probably butt in and explain somethings myself. You never know what these fellows come up with if I give the reins completely to them...

Luka has a new face-up by Fyrd8th, you haven't seen it before. Luka was in pieces (heh) and I put him together just so I could take him with me to the doll meet, since I knew Sazzer and her Soom Grey would be there. :3 Unfortunately we forgot to take pictures with the wolf-boys together, but I don't mind too much because it was so nice to chat with Sazzer!

So from now onwards I'll include some pics I took from the Christmas meet of the local BJD forum I'm a member of. I didn't take all that many pics, since I was a bit overwhelmed of it all! So much people, so many pretty dolls, so much delicious food! I was hardly able to concentrate enough to take these few snapshots. Too bad because there were some amazingly beautiful dolls there, I should have photographed more!
Oh well, there's always next time. I had great fun, though! :3

...and - of course - the newest member of our crew hogged a lot of my attention, it was so hard to tear my gaze from her... I'll introduce her a bit later. Now for some doll-piccies!"

Spica: "Okei, vaikka päätinkin että annan nukkien (ja luultavasti myös figujen) hoitaa tämän vuoden joulukalenteriosuuden, niin en malta olla tunkematta välillä aina höpisemään tänne itsekin.
Ei näistä hassulaisista aina tiedä mitä ne keksivät jos niille antaa liikaa valtaa...

Lukalla on uusi face-up Fyrd8th:ltä, ette ole nähneet sitä aiemmin, koska en ole ehtinyt valokuvata Lukaa. Luka-parka oli palasina ja laitoin hänet kasaan varta vasten miittiä ajatellen, koska Sazzer ja hänen Soom Greynsä olivat siellä myös. Harmillista kun ei ehditty ottaa yhdessä kuvia susipojistamme, mutta Sazzerin kanssa oli niin kiva jutustella että aika senkuin riensi. :3

Tästä eteenpäin liitän mukaan muutamia kuvia, joita otin Hartsilapset-foorumin pikkujoulumiitissä. En tosin ottanut ihan hirmuisesti kuvia, koska olin aika pyörällä päästäni miittivilinässä. Niin paljon ihmisiä, niin paljon kauniita nukkeja, niin paljon hyvää ruokaa! Hädin tuskin pystyin keskittymään tarpeeksi ottaakseni pari nopeaa kuvanraakiletta. Harmi vain kun siellä olisi ollut niin paljon ihania nukkeja, olisi pitänyt vaan malttaa kuvata enemmän!
No, aina on ensi kerta. Minulla oli tosi hauskaa kyllä! :3

...ja - tietenkin - perheemme uusin jäsen omi suuren osan huomiostani, oli niin vaikeaa irrottaa katseensa hänestä... Esittelen hänet hieman myöhemmin. Nyt niitä kuvia!"

My own dolls Soom Grey (Luka) and Necy surprise (Remy) were a bit shy but I think they played nicely with the other dolls.
Next time I'll have to remember to bring a doll stand for Luka, it was a pain to get him to sit straight on the slippery table... That's why he has an odd pose like that.

Luka: "...you just dumped us there and went off. Of course I didn't want to sit pretty when you had fun and left us there completely surrounded by a bunch of strangers! Hmph!"

Spica: "Are you intimidated by girls? :''D"

Remy: "That lady had a pretty pink hair and she was nice!"

Spica: "I hope you didn't bite her..."

Remy: "...just a little bit. She didn't even notice! :3 *proud of herself*"

Omat nukkeni Soom Grey (Luka) ja Necy surprise (Remy) olivat hiukan ujoja, mutta leikkivät kyllä kiltisti muiden nukkien kanssa.
Ensi kerralla pitää muistaa ottaa nukkeständi mukaan Lukaa varten, oli tosi hankalaa saada sitä istumaan liukkaalla pöydällä... siksi sillä on noin hassu asento.

Hauskannäköisiä pikkuisia. <3 Haluan Teenieilleni tuollaisen poroasun myöskin! x3 Niin söpö! Näin ensikertaa luonnossa Enaïbin valmistaman nuken (pikkuinen hiirulainen seisomassa sohvan edessä).

Haluaisin joskus omistaa Enaïbi-nuken joskus. Ne ovat kyllä hirmuisen arvokkaita, huh!

The meet made it clear that female dolls are in the majority. I don't think there were too many big male dolls around? I spotted some MSDs and a couple of YO-SD boys, but just a couple of SD men.

Viereisellä pöydällä istuneita söpöliinejä.
Miitissä tuli tosi selkeästi esille että naisnuket ovat eniten suosiossa. Siellä ei ollut kovinkaan monta isoa miesnukkea tai en ainakaan nähnyt kuin ihan pari. MSD- ja YO-SD poikiakin oli vain muutamia.

And here she is! The first pic of my first SD-sized female doll, Arcady, Soom Sweet Witch by sculpt! <3 Even without eyes, her hair all disheveled, clothes quickly thrown on and a messy background... She's amazing!

I bought her from a fellow doll-hobbyist, Adamantine. I paid her off before the Christmas meeting and received her there. She's my first big girl and I don't have any stuff for SD girls, so I just had to throw something together and buy some wigs for her since I didn't want her to go around bald and naked at the meet. :''D
She came with a beautiful corset and a ruffled skirt with her, so she'll get to wear them soon when I get some ribbon with which to tie the corset on.

The wig is a Soom Migma full set wig I bought at the meet. Originally, Arcady was going to have black or purple hair, but I don't think auburn looks too bad for her either.

Ja tässä hän sitten on! Ensimmäiseni SD-kokoinen naisnukke, Arcady, moldiltaan Soom Sweet Witch. <3 Jopa ilman silmiä, hiukset ihan sekaisin, vaatteet äkkiä heitetty päälle ja epäsiistillä taustalla kuvattuna... Hän on ihmeellinen!

Ostin nuken Adamantinelta Hartsilapsista, maksoin nuken vikan erän ennen pikkujouluja ja sovittiin että saisin noutaa sen sieltä. Arcady on tosiaan ensimmäinen iso tyttöni, eikä minulla näin ollen ole mitään kampetta SD-tytöille, joten oli vaan pakko haalia kasaan jotakin päällepantavaa ja ostaa pari peruukkia, koska en halunnut että tyttö joutuisi olemaan miitissä kaljuna ja alastomana, rassukka. :'''D

Arcadyn mukana tuli kaunis korsetti sekä röyhelöhamonen, jotka hän saa ylleen heti kun hankin jostain ohutta silkkinauhaa korsetin sitomista varten. Peruukki on Soomin Migman full set peruukki, jonka ostin miitistä. Alunperin Arcadyllä piti olla mustat tai violetit hiukset, mutta ei tämä kullanruskeakaan pahalta näytä.

Arcady: "Ja kukas kumma se sinä sitten olet?"

 

As soon as we arrived home, I had to take a quick pic of Arcady. She seems a bit bewildered, I think she's still getting used to her new surroundings.

Handling an SD-sized girl feels really nice though. It's nothing like handling a 70 cm male doll, surprisingly! She has a feminine softness in her poses and although I've heard otherwise, it turns out that Soom's Super Gem body is definitely a much better poser than to what I'm used to with my big bulky Dika men.

I think I might have named her aptly, since she seems to have an aura of elegance and aristocracy around her. :3

Heti kun pääsimme kotiin oli pakko napata nopea pikakuva Arcadysta. Hän näyttää aika hämmentyneeltä, luulenpa että Arcady vasta totuttelee uuteen ympäristöön.

SD-kokoisen tyttönuken käsitteleminen tuntuu tosi kivalta! Ei lainkaan sellaiselta kuin 70 cm miesnukkien, mikä on minusta yllättävää! Odotin hassusti että iso nukke - samankaltainen fiilis. Arcadylla on kuitenkin posetuksessaan feminiinistä pehmeyttä ja vaikka olenkin kuullut muuta Soomin kehoista niin tämä Super Gem vartalo on kyllä paljon parempi posettaja kuin pökkelöt Dika-mieheni.

Luulenpa, että olen osannut nimetä Arcadyn melko sopivasti, koska hänestä suorastaan henkii eleganssi ja aristokraattinen aura. :3

Aaaand we're back!

I arrived home early this morning, exhausted but very happy~
It was a good trip and I had great time, although I didn't get much sleep, drank too much beer ('cos in Germany,  it just won't do without beer), walked so much that my legs are still hurting and made people stare by dragging a doll with me for photography purposes.

Although it's good to be home (and get enough sleep), returning from a trip is always a tad sad. It's like the trip forms a small gap in time of its own, separate from your normal daily life. And after the trip is over, that span of time is forever closed and you can never go back.
Sure, there will be other trips to come, but none of them will be like the other, even if you travel to the same place. You'll always have a special thing in mind, an atmosphere, a song, a taste or something else that reminds you of that particular journey.

I'll go through the photos I took and reminisce the trip in the blog when I get a bit more rest~ :3

Jaaaa olemme taas täällä!

Palasin aikaisin aamulla kotiin, uupuneena mutta onnellisena~
Matka oli onnistunut ja minulla oli hauskaa, vaikka sain liian vähän unta, kävelin niin paljon että jalat ovat vieläkin kipeinä sekä hämmästytin ihmisiä kanniskelemalla ja kuvailemalla nukkea ympäriinsä.

Vaikka kotonakin on hyvä olla (ja saada nukuttua tarpeeksi), matkalta palaaminen on aina hiukan surullista. Ihan kuin matka muodostaisi oman pienen ulottuvuutensa joka poikkeaa tavallisesta jokapäiväisestä elämästä. Ja sitten kun matka on ohi, tuo ajanjakso sulkeutuu ikuisiksi ajoiksi eikä siihen voi enää koskaan palata.
Tietenkin tulee uusia matkoja, mutta ne eivät ole toinen toistaan samanlaisia vaikka matkaisitkin samaan paikkaan. Tietystä matkasta tulee aina säilymään mielessä jokin tietty erityinen asia, tunnelma, laulu, tuoksu tai maku tai mikä tahansa, mikä muistuttaa siitä nimenomaisesta matkasta.

Käyn matkalla ottamani valokuvat lävitse ja muistelen matkaa blogissa kun olen saanut hieman levättyä~ :3

I found the newest Lounge on Youtube with english subtitles for all of you who don't understand German. :''D This time Berndt the Bread has to spend the whole night in Nerd Party... and gets to cosplay Sailor Moon among other things.

Ystäväni Karl-Kai on perustanut blogin, mitä suostuttelin häntä tekemään pitkään.  Soom described these eyes as "black". However, they are not black. Dark grey, maybe, but not black. They are rather nice though, one of the best acrylic eyes I've ever seen! I'll definitely get more acrylic eyes from Soom in the future.
